Our work is at the intersection of civil rights, human rights and justice.

The Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center fuels social change by fostering collaboration between law, policy, scholarship, and grassroots organizing because social change intersects legal scholarship, connection to communities, and justice through action and activism.

  • We advance civil rights and human rights law by providing direct litigation support and rigorous policy research.

  • We shape public discourse on racial equality by providing a platform for scholarship and debate on cutting edge civil rights issues.

  • We provide a launchpad for activists to help ensure grassroots organizing stands at the forefront of the burgeoning modern civil rights movement.

  • The issues that we work on could include Criminal Justice; Human, Civil, and Constitutional Rights Criminal Justice; Racial Justice; UN & PAD: UN Decade, CERD, UN Forum; Environmental Justice; and Justice & Law.

  • The tools we use to engage that work include amicus briefs, reports, legislative research projects, conferences and events, litigation, and a myriad of activities.
